Wander through Island Born of Fire

Camiguin is a small volcanic island located in northern tip of Mindanao where Mount Hibok-Hibok—one of the active volcano in the Philippines— is situated. This gives a reason why the island is dubbed as “Island Born of Fire”.

For my year-end backpacking trip,I booked a flight from Iloilo to Cagayan De Oro and traveled by road to Camiguin. If long road-trips makes you feel uncomfortable, then you can book a direct flight to Camiguin via Cebu Pacific from Cebu City.

I arrived in the island around 6PM and texted Kuya Eric,a local guide, to fetch me up. There are lots of  accommodations in the island, however, most of them were fully booked on weekend.Good thing, Kuya Eric helped me to find a room that would fit my budget. After half an hour of strolling, I decided to stay in Lucky 7 Haven that offers 500 pesos for a fan room.It has a private bathroom, 3 twin size bed, cable TV and balcony.

The island tour is normally cost 1000 pesos excluding entrance fees on every tourist spots. You can also wander around Camiguin by renting motorcycles for a day that would cost 600 pesos.
